Mr. Adam became principal of Walter J. Mitchell Elementary School in January 2019. Before arriving at Mitchell, he was Vice Principal at William A. Diggs Elementary School for three and a half years and at Malcolm Elementary for two years. While a Vice Principal at William A. Diggs, Mr. Adam was chosen to participate in the Promising Principal’s Academy where he met with other aspiring principals from the state and received professional development from MSDE.
He began his career with Charles County Public Schools in 2005, serving as a Special Education teacher at Eva Turner Elementary School. While teaching at Eva Turner, he voluntarily coached the basketball team for Special Olympics and was recognized at the Board of Education as a Charles County Exemplary Employee.
Mr. Adam has a Bachelor of Science dual degree in Unified Special Education and Regular Education from Keuka College in Keuka Park, NY. He also has a Master of Science degree in Curriculum and Instruction with an emphasis in Administration from McDaniel College in Westminster, MD.
Mr. Adam believes in the benefits of establishing positive relationships with staff, students, parents, and community members. This, combined with establishing high expectations for academics and personal responsibility, will create an environment where all students have the opportunity to learn and succeed.
